The Spanish Railways
cover a large number of lines which connect all the regions and main cities.
Trains are known for their range of high quality, comfort and punctuality. Most
of the trains supply additional services such as phone, snack bar and
restaurant.
The high speed train
"AVE" travel from Madrid - Cordoba - Seville and runs over 300 km (186 miles)
per hour. High-speed trains also serve other destinations such as Malaga, Cadiz
and Huelva. A high-quality train running 200 km (124 miles) per hour also links
Barcelona and Valencia / Alicante.
Madrid is a central
station from where you can easily reach any destination. For example, from
Madrid to Valencia or Alicante the journey takes 4 hours. There is also a night
train service between several cities.
In the local network
Spain has some of the newest trains in Europe called "Cercanias", which connect
towns such as Toledo, Segovia, or the Escorial Palace.
Hotel trains between
Madrid-Paris, Barcelona-Paris and Barcelona-Milan-Zurich are high quality night
trains. These trains leave in the evening and arrive in the early morning.
